Vinsology: Huatung Valley, Taiwan 花東縱谷

Huatung Valley or Hualien-Taitung Valley (花東縱谷), also known as East Rift Valley or the Longitudinal Valley, is a long and narrow valley located at the between Chungyang Range and Haian Range.

=花東縱谷 Huatung Valley=

My first day of this journey is to visit Huatung Valley. I started from Taipei at Taipei city hall bus station, a coconstructed station with Taipei city hall MRT station, taking Capital Bus to Luodong train station in I-Lan county. Since Hsuehshan Tunnel opened, it is faster from Taipei to I-Lan by Bus rather than by train.

I preserved about one hour for visiting Luodong Night Market which is a famous night market in I-Lan and is around 15 minutes walking distance from Luodong train station. Taking the Chu-Kuan Express train (莒光號) to Taitung was saving the money and time for this trip.

When arriving Taitung I bought the local train(普快車) ticket to Jhiben. And hire a scooter in front of Jhiben station .

Today, riding the scooter along Provincial Highway No. 9 (台9線) is an easier method for traveling Huatung Valley. Alougth you can take local train and get off at every station, it is time-consuming and is not convenience.

My first stop wa Chu Lu Ranch (初鹿牧場). Their milk food products are so yummy.
